3 Mistakes I Made Building My $60K/Month Dream Life

I make $60K+/month running a solo, AI-powered business. Content, B2B partnerships, coaching, and now apps. But I almost didn't get here, because of three quiet mistakes that stalled my growth for way longer than they should have.

1. Believing I had to "arrive" before I had anything valuable to share

I used to think I needed to be somewhere impressive before I'd earned the right to post. But my audience isn't waiting for me to arrive. Most of them are exactly where I was six months ago. Wherever you are, someone wishes they were there. Speak to them, especially when you don't feel like "a success" yet.

2. Not giving my goals KPIs

Money isn't the only, or best, measure of success. I was only tracking revenue, which meant I was blind to everything that actually predicts whether things are working: audience quality, systems, sustainability.

My KPIs now, across four categories:

  • Saves + shares (not likes)
  • Email list growth rate
  • Systems written down
  • Hours automated
  • Transformation stories
  • % finding me via search

3. Paying more attention to monetary cost than opportunity cost

I used to say yes to anything "free." Then I did the math: 2 travel days cost me 7+ days of productive work.

Formula: lost work days x average daily revenue = real cost.

7 days x ~$2K/day (from my $60K/month) = $14,000+ per trip.

Now, before saying yes to anything: will this generate more than $14K in revenue, content, or connections? If not, it's not actually free.

The system that fixed all three

I built the Dream Life KPI Scorecard. It's a Notion template tracking four categories (Audience Quality, Business Health, Systems & Leverage, Personal Sustainability) that outputs one weekly score. It's weighted 60% average + 40% weakest category, so a great revenue week can't hide a bad sleep week.

Want to build your own version instead?

Use this prompt:

I want to stop tracking vanity metrics (followers, likes) and build a KPI
system that reflects real progress. Based on 4 categories - audience quality,
business health, systems/leverage, and personal sustainability - suggest 6-8
personalized KPIs for my [business/niche]. For each one, tell me: what it
measures, why it beats the vanity-metric version, and a simple way to track
it weekly. Here's context on my business: [2-3 sentences about what you do,
your stage, and your goals].
