The Claude Prompt That Helped Me Get Into Oxford

I knew I wanted to spend my summer abroad studying AI. The problem was I had no idea where to even start.

So I opened Claude and basically said: "Help me figure out a summer in Europe focused on AI."

That was the brief.

Claude went into research mode for 8 minutes and started pulling programs across Italy, Germany, France, Austria, and the UK. It was searching LinkedIn, Reddit, GitHub, random university pages, everything.

At first, I was building this dreamy Italy summer in my head. Online AI coursework. A few intensives across Europe. Cute cafes. Romanticizing my life a little bit, obviously.

Then Oxford came up.

What helped was that Claude didn't just throw the school name at me and move on. It explained why the advanced AI track actually matched my experience level.

That mattered because I think a lot of people quietly assume programs like this are "for smarter people."

So I started asking more questions: Who teaches it? Is it actually worth the money? What does tuition include? How much would I realistically spend on housing, food, and travel?

And honestly, having clear answers made the whole thing feel possible instead of intimidating.

I applied and got accepted into all three advanced AI sessions: Generative AI, Computer Vision, and LLMs/NLP.

Then Claude helped me map the rest of my summer too. 9 weeks of classes, travel gaps, timing everything so I wouldn't burn out halfway through.

The Prompt That Started It All

Here's the exact prompt I used, with blanks so you can customize it for whatever you're looking for. Whether that's AI, design, business, or anything else, this works.

I am a [CURRENT ROLE/BACKGROUND] looking for an immersive [FIELD/INDUSTRY] summer study abroad experience in Europe for [TARGET PROFILE: professionals, career switchers, founders, creators, graduate-level learners, etc.] rather than traditional undergraduate students.

Why This Prompt Works

Most people type something like "best summer programs in Europe" and get a generic list of study abroad sites built for undergrads. This prompt works because it forces the AI to understand your whole picture before recommending anything.

It tells Claude your experience level, what kind of environment you thrive in, and what you actually want to get out of the experience. That context is what turns a surface-level search into a genuinely useful set of recommendations.

How to Use It

  1. Copy the prompt above
  2. Fill in every bracket with your real details. The more specific you are, the better the results
  3. Turn on research mode. This is the key step. It lets Claude actually search the internet for real programs instead of pulling from memory
  4. Paste it in and let it run. It might take a few minutes. That is a good sign
  5. Ask follow-up questions about anything that catches your eye. Cost breakdowns, housing, application timelines, who the professors are. Go deep

You might surprise yourself with what comes back. I almost didn't apply to Oxford because I assumed it wasn't for me. The prompt is what made me realize it actually was.
